NEW SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD.........

 The new seven wonders of the world are impressive monuments regarded with awe and wonder. In the past, there were seven wonders of the ancient world that amaze people who had the fortune to see them. Today, there are some spectacular monuments that are just as impressive as the ancient ones. the new seven wonders foundation in Switzerland received around 200 entries form across the world, and it finally short listed 21 finalists. In 2007, the final list of the seven modern wonders were announced in Liston, Portugal. 



1.The Great Wall Of China:

One of the world's largest building construction projects, the great wall of china is widely thought to be about 5,500 miles long. work began in the 7th centuary BCE and continued for two millennia. Although called a "wall" the structure actually features two parallel walls for lengthy stretches.it was build to keep invaders from crossing it's northern border. However, some part of the walls is destroyed over the year due to erosion and flooding.still you can have a walking tour on the wall.

Interesting Facts:This is the longest man made structure on this earth. It is also called the longest cemetery on earth because so many peoples died building it. It is actually a myth that the great wall can be seen from the moon. In 2004, there are over 41.8 millions foreign visitors to the great wall of china.

2.Taj Mahal, India:

Taj Mahal is a symbol of love. Emperor Shah Jahan built this wonder in honor of his beloved wife. Mumtaz Mahal, who gave him 14 children's and died in labor. It is a wide structure that took more than 20,000 laborers and 1,000 elephants to complete. The construction of this world's richest grave was begun during 1632. The Taj Mahal is known as  "crown of the palace" is an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the southern bank of the river Yamuna in the Indian city of Agra. It intricate work of art and architectural genius took 17 years to complete. the most recognizable feature is the white dome at the peak of the mousoleum. often called the "onion dome", it rises to about 35 meters (115 feet) and is surrounding by four other domes. Taj Mahal is the famous Indian landmark and tourist magnet, attracting more than a million tourists every year.

Interesting Facts: Materials from all over India and Asia were used in the construction of Taj Mahal.If observed carefully, the four pillars or minarets are tilted outwards rather than standing straight. The reason why it was constructed in such a way was to protect the main tomb ( gumbad ) from being damaged with the falling of minarets on it in case of any natural calamity like an earthquake.

3.Chichen Itza, Mexico:

Chichen Itza is a Mayan city on the yucatan peninsula in mexico which flourished in the 9th and 10th centuries CE. under the Mayan tribe Itza a number of important monuments and temples were built among the most notable is the stepped pyramid EI castillo, which rises 79 feet above the main plaza. A testament to the Mayan's astronomical abilities, the structure features a total of 365 steps the number of days in the solar year . during the spring and autumnal equinoxes, the setting sun casts shadows on the pyramid that gives the appearance of a serpent slithering down the north stairway, at the base is a stone snake head. chichen itza is home to the largest tlachtli in the americas.

Interesting Facts: The term chichen itza means " the mouth of the wall of itza " chichen itza is the 2nd most popular site for visitor to mexico. Approximately 1.2 million people visit the ruins of chichen itza are made from stone.

4.Petra, Jordan:

Petra is an ancient stone complex built by the nabataeans situated in Jordan's southwestern desert. It is believed to have established around 300 BC located in the south of Jordan between the dead sea and the red sea, Petra is a long drive from Amman added to the new 7 wonders of the world .Recently it was a forgotten city which was rediscovered by a swiss explorer it in 1812. This architectural wonder is carved directly into the pink sandstone cliff faces, creating a fantastic view for the visitors.

Interesting Facts: Petra is commonly known as the " cost city " Petra is also called the "Rose city" due to the Colour of its rocks, which take on a red pink hue at sunset and sunrise. Petra has been the location of a number of hollywood films including Indians jones and the mummy returns. It is believed that petra was established in 312 BC, making it one of the oldest cities in the world.

5.Machu Picchu:

Machu Picchu is an Incan city located in the andes mountains in peru, above the urubamba river valley. According to historian, the architectural complex was built . In the 15th century, approximately by the Inea Pachacutec. the former use of this place remains a mystery the site itself is an earthquake prone areas.bu the stone in the building bounce through the fremors and then fall back into place, keeping this place intact for years. more than 7,000 feet above sea level in the Andes mountains, Machu Picchu is the most visited tourist destination in peree the name machu picchu translates to " old peak " or " old mountain" and the complex consists of ove 100 flights of stairs carved from stone.

Interesting Facts: Machu Picchu is south america's most famous ruin and peru's most visited attraction.  As a result , there's  a no fly zone alone  the site, a visitor limit of 2,500 per  day. In January  of 2010, the site was closed for about three months after heavy rain caused flooding. This archaeologically site is still well preserved today. there's  more to machu picchu than we see in most photos.

6.Christ The Redeemer, Brazil:
Christ the Redeemer is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.Christ the Redeemer statue was constructed between 1922 to 1931. This 98 feet tall iconic statue is made to neutralize the increasingly "sinful" nature of the republic of Brazil which had separated Church from state in 1889. usually, christ statue come with a cross, but this one has open arms which are depicted as a symbol of peace.visit this statue in Rio De Janeiro during the evening, which gives an awe-inspiring view of the sugarloof mountain, and the bay along with thw icon.

Interesting Facts: It's the fourth largest statue of jesus christ in the world, the largest Deco-style sculpture on the planet.not only is the statue the most recognizable landmark of Rio, It's become a cultural icon of brazil as well. but most importantly however, the statue has become a global symbol of Christianity that attracts millions of believers and non- believers to the top of mount corcovado every year over the years, the statue will gradually get darker.

7.Roman Colosseum, Rome:

Rome is an elegant ancient city. Roman Colosseum was built around 80 A.D., and it can accommodate 50,000 people in tiered seating you will feel like you are in the sets of gladiator movie once you enter this place. It is an amazing spot, apart from the destruction caused by earthquake, vandals and fire. Measuring 189 meters long, 156 meters wide and 50 meters in height, the colosseum is the largest amphitheater in the world.  the arena had 36 trap doors for special effects, as well as many underground passages and rooms to hold wild animals and gladiators before the games began. Entry was free for all ancients Romans and they some time had free food throughout the spectacles too.

Interesting Facts: It was Originally known as the Flavian Amphitheater, named after the Flavian dynasty of emperors. the ancient Romans used a lot of marbles to construct the colosseum, it has been estimated that they used around 1,00,000 cubic meters of marble,transported in 200 bullock carts to the building site.
